Discover
Through our Academy of Vocal Music Ex Cathedra can support the Arts Award Discover parts A, B and C strands for children aged between 8 and 18 years.
Through our Singing Playgrounds project we can support the Arts Awards Discover parts A, B and C.

Part A: discover
• Young people will be able to take part in practical arts activities such as weekly choir rehearsals (children aged between 8 and 18) and monthly workshops (children aged 4 to 7) as well as performances. Young people will be trained as Song Leaders to lead others in their primary school playgrounds

Part B: find out
• Young people will be able to find out about artists and their work through talking to our vocal tutors and professional singers about their work.
Part C: share
• Young people will be able to share their work with us through our biannual newsletter. Young people trained as Song Leaders will be sharing their leadership in Singing Playgrounds school assembly, workshop and celebration events

Explore
We can support parts A, B C & D through our Academy of Vocal Music and our schools’ programmes Singing Playgrounds and SingMaker
Part A: inspire
• Young people will be able to take part in practical arts activities such as weekly choir rehearsals (children aged between 8 and 18) and monthly workshops (children aged 4 to 7) as well as performances and through Singing Playgrounds. The Song Leaders are trained to lead other children in playground singing games throughout the year.
Part B: explore
• Young people will be able to explore the work of artists and arts organisations through meeting and talking to our vocal tutor team and our administration team about their work and the way the organisation runs.
Part C: create
• Young people are always encourage to create their own songs and compositions which is then sung by the choir and used for other Ex Cathedra education projects. Singing Playgrounds Song Leaders are taught to create, adapt and share their own singing games.
Part D: present
• Young people will be able to present what they enjoyed, achieved and are most proud of from their Explore work by writing for our biannual newsletter or talking about their achievement at one of our weekly rehearsals.
Song Leaders will be able to present and record achievements in their scrapbook that is provided as part of the project.

Bronze
We can support parts A, B, C & D (delete as applicable) through our Girls Academy of Vocal Music (aged 14 – 18)
Part A: explore the arts as a participant
• Young people take part in creative arts activities through shadowing vocal tutors, leading warm ups and teaching short songs to the junior choirs. They will also be able to shadow different Ex Cathedra education projects.
Part B: explore the arts as an audience member
• Young people will be able to attend most Ex Cathedra concert and share their views with their peers and their choir leaders.
Part C: arts inspiration
• Young people will have the opportunity to research artists and arts practitioners through shadowing different Ex Cathedra education projects and the administration team in the office when applicable.

Part D: arts skill share - passing on arts skills to other
• Young people will be offered the opportunity to share their arts skills/knowledge through leading warm ups and teaching short songs to the junior choirs.


Silver
We can support Unit 1 parts A, B, C & D through our Academy of Vocal Music
Unit 1 Parts A & B: arts challenge
• Young people will be able to take part in practical arts activities to help achieve their arts challenge through attending our rehearsals, workshops, performances and residential.
Unit 1 Part C: review arts events
• Young people will be able to review Ex Cathedra performances. NB discounted rates are available for all concerts.
Unit 1 Part D: arts research
• Young people will be able to find out more about the arts through meeting and/or working alongside arts practitioners by shadowing different Ex Cathedra education projects and the administration team in the office when applicable.
